Doha Tribeca Film Festival kicked off 2 nights ago, i hope a lot of people enjoyed it. We were not there for the opening, but only caught up last night. In the papers yesterday morning, there was mention of celebrities attending the place, the effort into making the festival happen, the frenetic constructions and of course the screening of the first big-budget movie for international release...i think.
what's missing from the papers though is the review of the film...i mean it is afterall quite a milestone in the history of Qatar films, but oddly enough, i did not see a 'special section' reviewing this significant film...or maybe it was not screened yet?
DTFF is still promoting the "I AM FILM".....and still the artists they featured on the short video clip for the festival are struggling to make sense of it. Is this phrase inspired by Barry Manilow's song that goes: "I am music....and i write the song!"?? coz it still sounds like i am tape, i am bag, i am shoes.......
but waheyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! DTFF is an awesome event, lots of good films, Katara is worth gushing about....the festival itself im sure is not small potatoes to put together, so thank you for making it happen! see you all at the movies!
