This thus far is quite more of a unique story i've recently seen.
Set in Mongolia, Tuya, has two kids and married to a guy who became a cripple while trying to dig a well for the family. Now, to support her family, she took on her husband's sheep herding. Added to that, since the well wasnt finished, she has to travel far and carry the water herself. To compound her difficulties, as if that wasnt enough, she was recently diagnosed with a back problem after trying to dislodge a neighbor from under a tricycle carrying a heavy load that turned over. and so the movie's dilemma unfolds.
to avoid fasttracking becoming a cripple herself from the daily heavy work, she and her husband decided to divorce so she can get married again and find a husband who can take care of her and the kids, and then her sister in law would take care of her ex husband. What's surprisingly amazing for me in this film is how...well the women mostly seem to assume a "matter-of-fact" attitude about the whole scenario. lest you think this is a movie of crying women feeling victimized and sorry for themselves, you're dead wrong. at least not through the entire movie
Anyhoo, Tuya didnt stick to THE plan. instead of her husband living with her sister in law, who by the way is a widow herself with 6 kids - Tuya wants a new husband who will agree to take care of her, her kids, and her husband all under the same roof....i mean if in some cultures it is okay to have multiple wives, how can it not be possible to have multiple husbands for a noble practical reason? Afterall, Tuya still loves her husband and is doing the whole 2nd marriage thing to take care of her family.
This is a drama, funny 'weird' movie of misunderstandings, love, family and sense of responsibility with ample amounts of alcohol. Tuya's character is emotionally kickass and cinematography is awesome.
Overall, story is quite unique and the ending.....is ambigous if you are in denial. not so happy if you need more clues. Not to be mistaken with an indian film which apparently shares the same title in netflix.
