I just watched Let the Right One In. Must say it's better than I expected. The boy is nice :-)
But still I'm not a lover of vampires, even if they are so romantic :-D

Midnight Meat Train
I was asked by Puff Mama what made me want to watch this movie... it's coz i heard it has some uniqueness to it. vile and weird but still unique!lol! it's a slasher movie .... but really awfully bloody - literally. It's about this photographer who is following, taking pictures of this guy on a train who turns out to be a professional butcher (in a slaughterhouse) who goes to work wearing a suit - then discovers he's murdering people in midnight trains. in the earlier parts of the movie, you see how he murders them - but just in general, i mean how he knocks them off, and you go: eww. but of course, it's a slasher movie...- but the eyeballs just flew off its face dammit....curbing...like angelina jolie's bullet from Wanted. then you kinda see it a number of times and you'd feel like: ok we get it, you pound them to tenderness with a giant mallet.....by this time, Puff had to leave for a date and ballz and boobs have to grace another gathering....Soon, the brave one, stayed.
during the times serial killer was shown with his earlier victims, you get snippets of MAYBE what else he'd do with them, scenes of where he 'stores' them, then towards the culmination of the movie, all these seemed just-another-serial-killer's-hangout props were actually used.
ok, so let me just tell you now. he hangs them by the ankles with this metal hooks used to hang meat.....and so he cleans them off the same way. pretty graphic...so glad Dulcinea stayed in her house and didnt see this!hahaha! and then towards the final....hack off, butcher style....well they fought where these victims were hanging from, some still half alive and of course they got stabbed, hacked, etc! the funny macabre part is...when the protagonist was about to go after the train where the killer goes, he felt the need to dress up like a butcher himself....in a scene like that of super heroes dressing up, he started packing on his butcher knives and hooks and other killing devices, and in a scene reminiscent of Rambo tying his headband - he put on this butcher apron.....ahahahaha!!! but it's not just your ordinary betty crocker apron...it's a metallic one like medieval times, just so he wouldnt look too gay!ahahahaaha!!!
anyhooo.....it was fun watching this if you dont take movies seriously....it's a college movie. and it has a fun ensemble too. it has Taub from House looking soooo different from his House persona, brooke shields has a part, Roger Bart who is memorable to me for his funny gay role in stepford wives, the lead role is by bradley cooper who you'd remember got hacked also in mighty heart, and then the serial killer played by vinnief#$%#ingjones - who when he walks in a scene, i will always hear Madonna's lucky star song because of Snatch!
this movie is gawdawaful graphic.

Movies from last weekend Wall E
I cant believe i passed this up during flights! Best animation movie...last year! It is awesome and it really made me cry digital tears....awwwww . I didnt want to see this film before because wall e reminded me so much of ET and ET is sacred to me! that movie inspired so many bike trips trying to emu elliott!! But Wall E is something else...go see it you darkhearted witches!! ;D Paranoid ParkI'd qualify this among...relaxing movie. So ok the theme of the movie is not something to relax about, a security guard was ran over by a train and got cut in half, and foul play was suspected, teenage skaters as prime suspect. but it has a good soundtrack and camera shots and theme were pretty awesome....it's almost as if the director and camera guy has a man crush on the lead skater....ok, it kinda grossed me out coz what i actually thought was: i hope the director is not phedophiliac ewww!!! This movie is not for everyone though, but it's still something to watch if you're curious about movies...not for the story but for how it's done. i dunno why but in a weird way this reminded me of rainy mornings as a child watching sesame street. . the cinematography kinda has a 70s flavor for me. Movies this weekend: In bruge if we get around to it, and that romanian abortion flick maybe.

Slumdog Millionaire is just an overblown bag of hot air. I've visited the slums in India (hell, i damn well lived near one for eons) and it isn't like that at all. It's more brutal and have VERY LESS redeeming qualities.
What Slumdog Millionaire is is an underdog story. Except for that, it's just packaging. All gloss and no depth. An India packaged for Western audiences....
Don't mind me, I'm ranting. A pity that I had to do so the first time i visited QBB in over five months... Sigh!

the only reason that made me watch slumdog is danny boyle and i was not disappointed. im not aware it marketed itself as a go-to for social commentary - it revolved around a cheesy tv game show, i supposed that's a clue. it was watchable and did not make me cringe much considering as for the accolades that followed it... meh....the movie wasnt stupid or pretentious to me

i really enjoyed the book Let the right one in - made me appreciate the movie more. if you've not seen the movie, the ending of the book might seem a lil vague. however, in the movie, hakan's character was not really explained - watching the movie's ending, i thought eli and hakan had started the same way, playmates....then due to vampire aging issues, hakan ended up a pedo...harrrr!!!

Bought the book after you suggested I read it... they should've explained Hakan's character more, in the book. And in the movie I think they should've explained Eli's, er, lack of genitalia more, hehe
