hafta say that one of my sources of inspiration are teen flicks! looove them! when i was young (er) i watched them with glee and grimace...and they made me feel mature and wise. These days....they still make me feel mature and wise! ;D And they all have great soundtracks...what's a teen flick without a good soundtrack...ok karate kid with survivor song is exception to the rule but....!!! Someday, if i have a daughter, i'd tell them to watch all these flicks before i teach them about this girl cinderella..ok maybe american pie when she's 10!! On top of my head, here are the memorable ones:
1. Pretty in Pink - Great soundtrack! Girl from the wrong side of the tracks, a punk, unconventional dresser due to lack of funds...but waheey it just squeezed out the creative in her!....although the final pink dress was/is and forever a fug!...but the soundtrack is unforgettable ;D ... molly ringwald walking to the tune of nik kershaw's wouldnt it be good...molly ringwald walking to the tune of suzanne vega's left of center...molly ringwald with psychedelic furs playing in the background....heck the soundtrack alone is worth seeing the movie...though im weary to watch it again these days...i dont wanna ruin my memory!
2. Karate Kid - I wasnt too hot with the survivor song...at 10 years old i knew it's a baaad song! but Danielsan...wax on, wax off... 'nough said.
3. She's all that - ahahahahaha!!! can't count how many times ive seen this one on VHS, i practically knew the lines...it was horrible but like an onlooker to a roadside accident, i couldnt tear myself away. Taylor was my favorite! Even the parody of this movie, Not Another Teen Movie was a good one..by dumminess standards of course! you cant watch one without the other!
Taylor Vaughan: Careful of what? OK, I could win this thing in flourescent lighting, on the first day of my period, cloaked in T.J. Max. Ok? My mother was prom queen in '71, my cousin - prom queen in '82, and my sister would have been prom queen in '94 if it wasn't for that scam on the Conway Bed tour bus, okay? I am a goddamn legacy, all right? And besides, not to be a bitch, but who's gonna beat Taylor Vaughan?
Katie: God, I hope that's not your acceptance speech.
4. 10 Things I hate about you - classssssiccccc... if there was ever a classic among teen flicks. just love this movie, even with heath ledger looking like an @$$ singing that song..i couldnt watch that scene completely! i just love the julia stiles character. mean biatch!
5. American Pie - The first one....was just hilarious, the funny scenes wont grow old for a while.
6. Clueless - cant say enough good stuff about it! and the lines....
Cher: Isn't my house classic? The columns date all the way back to 1972.
Cher: Christian said he'd call the next day, but in boy time that meant Thursday.
Tai: Why should I listen to you, anyway? You're a virgin who can't drive.
Cher: That was way harsh, Tai.
HAHAHA!
