Metallica has been in the septic tank ever since they went mainstream in the early 90s. If you had asked this same question in the 80s though, Metallica would win hands down over Bono's bright red jumpsuit.

Most great bands go crazy after a little success and fame, Pink Floyd anyone? It's a shame really.
