this movie clocks a little more than 2 hours i think -- it's that long. However, the story is simple enough, it's just about 2 magicians trying to outdo each other...wolverine vs. batman. and no there's no real magic here to wow you. it is supposed to be serious but i find it funny.
it is said that magic is presented in three parts as is said by michael caine in the film....this movie is like that too so hopefully you dont get bored and leave in the middle of the film or you'd miss the fun - the prestige. the twist in this story isnt even that special but i think the virtue in this filim lies on how it was told. there are really some people who can tell a story...and i hate them!!this director is semi genius in that regard. if you've seen his earlier film, Memento, you'd sort of recognize him. dont go watch this movie thinking ooh im gonna be impressed with the story, twists and such. it's not about that, personally at least. it is about how it was told so i wont even attempt give you a synopsis here.
having said that....ive just a couple of complaints. i wish the main characters should have done this movie shirtless at least. i mean...it's 2 hours!! it's not fair, the guys have scarlet j's cleavage to distract them, while the women will just have to sit through the film with a limping hugh jackman and christian bale with missing two fingers. and can somebody outlaw death monologues please! or if they cant, at least limit it to just a "CROAK".
go watch this film if uve a lot of time to spare...preferrably with someone who doesnt have attention deficit:)
