So...... We watched Devil Wears Prada today with Midge, Fish and Aqua. It's a girly movie, so guys unless you are in fashion industry (or if you're gay ) don't even think about it. The cast is fab. Meryl Streep is great as a ruthless fashion magazine editor who terrorises her employees, Anne Hathaway is her smart but not so fashionable new PA, and Stanley Tucci is a very helpful stylist working for the same magazine and who on more than one occasion comes to the rescue of the said unfortunate PA. This movie is all about fashion, what it is, what it isn't and what it takes. Plenty flashy clothes, Gisele does a little cameo (as herself I presume), and a neverending quest for successfully combining a stressful career and personal life. And no it doesn't work. The "combining" stuff. Movie in a nutshell: a plain but determined girl joins the top fashion magazine, goes through hell, goes through appearance and style transformation (Princess Diaries III), makes it in the end, realises that she will eventually end up being just like her boss, doesn't like the sound of it, and runs. Girls liked the movie. Sorry my review is too short - I didn't really like the movie all that much. I am sure when Fish and Midge get online they'll post a worthier review for your entertainment.

dont go watch it expecting an oscar both for performance and storyline, and it'll be fun. it's a good transition though for the girl...from teen flick to a sort of more mature role. although streep was a pain in the movie, the real anna wintour still seems more a biatch. i watch it with wintour's legend clouding my mind so streep was a bit of a let down as she's more..humane. dunno, i must have been really expecting evil!lol:P still i like the clothes and the scenes in new york and paris:)..i think i kinda tuned out the characters thats why i enjoyed it...

I don't know. I loved it, the girls loved it, and the critics loved it too. beats me why you didn't like this movie, QC. But I guess you're weird that way I personally was in awe of meryl streep's performance, with Anne Hathaway definitely holding her own. Yes it's a movie about fashion (or rather an expose` of the fashion world), but at least there was never a pretense of taking the movie too seriously at any point. It is fun, it's scandalous, and the scathing tug of war between Miranda (Streep) and Andrea (Hathaway) was in the least entertaining. Also, for someone who's read the original book that the movie was based on I would have to give kudos where kudos are due..this is one movie which has definitely outdone the novel by miles.

Blah blah blah this movie is the ultimate chick flick. Best watched with a gang of girlfriends and a lot of munchies and soda pops to wash it down. There is no way in the world I would have watched it till the end on my own. But yes, the actresses were nice. And once again I enjoyed Hathaway's transformation from an ugly duckling to a slightly better looking duck.
This movie is a slightly more grown up version of the Princess Diaries.

I actually quite liked all three of them, Bullshake, but chick flicks are not my fav movies, unless they are period movies like Pride & Prejudice. Bottom line: if there are horses as means of transportation - I'll like it.

Something happened that affected my ability to ride pain free, Bullshake. Now I can only do a little bit of trot for a very short time, and that's not exactly riding, so I just don't ride anymore. I could walk a horse though

Sorry to steal the conversation back to Devil Wears Prada, but it was totally a chick flick. It had a guessable story line, but in a good way. I just mostly liked it because of the clothes! I want a pair of Jimmy Choo's dammit! My only real complaint where the male love interests, neither of whom were very cute or sexy. The boyfriend was too much of a girl for my tastes and the reporter too suave and fake. Oh well, still GREAT clothes!

I didn't really like the promotion of being stick skinny and wearing designer drab.

I like Ralf Fiennes. I think Butler is particularly yummy, the whole shitty Timeline is worth watching because of his naked torso in one of the scenes.
